Children’s Learning Institute
The mission of the Children’s Learning Institute is to create a quality learning environment for all children through classroom curriculum, teacher mentoring, clinical programs and applied research. Our goal is to make sure every child is equipped to learn and able to excel.
Dr. Steven Hecht is researching the teaching of fractions at area schools and needs interns to observe those classrooms. He will need to interview potential interns before making a decision. Dr. Hecht has set up a collaboration with Channelview ISD, which means that interested interns need reliable transportation.
Location: The Children’s Learning institute is located at 7000 Fannin, Suite 2300, Houston, TX 77030. Dr. Steven Hecht can be reached at Steven.A.Hecht@uth.tmc.edu or at (713) 500-3838. The CLI offices are about 5 and a half miles from UH main campus, and Channelview ISD schools range from 20 to 27 miles from UH main campus.
Opportunity Specifics: This is a math oriented opportunity. Interns will be working with Steven Hecht but will visit Channelview ISD schools in teams, which means transportation is needed but not required for this opportunity. Observation of the in-class teaching of fractions to middle-school students is need so most of the work will be during the school day.
